Boutique Hotel 1821 en Dolianis

The rooms were lovely and warm, and the hotel lounge looked beautiful and well kept. But for what was offered, the price felt too high. The usual hotel-style breakfast had mostly stale items. The rooms could have been cleaned more carefully, and the shared areas smelled like a cesspool. We were told the tap water was drinkable, then that night the water stopped because the supply came from a tank that had run empty. The manager apparently said it was the guests' fault for not reporting the outage, even though we had no idea there was a tank.

The price seemed excessive after the way the water problem was handled, and the whole response left us uneasy. We expected it to be fixed by then, but there was a problem with the pump that draws from the tank. We were told we should have reported the outage when we noticed it, as if that would have prevented the pump issue. The rooms were spacious, attractive, and very warm, though they needed more attention to cleanliness. By the fireplace, the large living room constantly smelled of a cesspool. Breakfast was served for just one hour, supposedly so the pies would be warm, but the selection was limited and the pies turned out to be from a supermarket.

The rooms were warm and lovely, and the stonework adds a nice touch to the village's look. Breakfast was delicious, and the woman in charge was kind and eager to help. When the water heater broke, she moved us to another room right away. We also booked one extra night at the last minute while the hotel was closing, and she still made sure we had another generous breakfast. There was no soundproofing, so you could hear even a pin drop. Aside from the first day, when we arrived and slept at noon, we weren't disturbed by noise again. It was quiet.

The area is beautiful, and the woman who greeted us was so kind. A wonderful guesthouse. We'd definitely return.
