Strogili Traditional Houses

We’d happily return to Strogili. The pool area, with its sunbeds and loungers, is just a minute from reception, and there’s good-sized parking too. Our room was comfortable, the staff were very friendly, and we had fantastic views with a decent breakfast brought to our terrace. It’s a great spot for a short walk into Santorini town, right beside a convenient store and at the start of the hike to Thira.

The breakfast guy was a highlight of our days, and everyone we met was super friendly. The place was clean and peaceful, with breathtaking views. It’s tucked a little way off the busy main road, but still close enough to walk comfortably to Oia’s hot spots. I can’t recommend it enough if you’re staying in Oia.

We stayed for three nights on our first trip to Santorini, in October, and had a lovely time at Strogili traditional homes. Room #3 was set back from the road but still close enough that we carried our own luggage. There’s a market just steps away, and the hotel faces the famous Caldera and Aegean Sea. Breakfast was great too. The staff made a big difference. We arrived after 9 pm because of a late flight, and Popi waited for us, helped fill in our breakfast order for the next morning, showed us to the room, and sorted out the bed situation without us having to ask. Later, Ioannis helped arrange an airport transfer and a restaurant reservation, and shared some of the best sightseeing spots. He was always gracious and kind. Our stay made the Santorini trip especially memorable.

We stayed in room 9 from September 5-8. I paid £670 for three nights, and the balcony over the caldera had an incredible view. We couldn’t see the sun fully set, but you still get the atmosphere. Whenever we opened the doors, the view felt like a dream. The room was cosy and had what we needed, including a fridge with a tiny freezer compartment that was handy for ice. Hot water was a bit of a challenge. Staff were lovely and kind. The pool is a couple of minutes’ walk away, which didn’t bother us. It was crystal clear, and in early September we mostly had it to ourselves. The pool area has great views and a bar for drinks, while food comes from a separate restaurant. Drinks were really expensive and only average, with cocktails at 14-18 euros, though that seems pretty standard in Santorini and felt unnecessary. Food was more reasonable, with burgers, pizzas, salads, toasties and more. A margarita was around 10 euros and actually very tasty. The hotel location is great, about five minutes at most from the start of Oia’s walking area, and there’s a little supermarket less than 30 seconds from our room, handy for water. We mostly got takeaway and ate on the balcony while admiring the view.
