Merchant House is a real gem of a small place in the mountains of Corfu, in a very touristy village that empties out by 5 PM. The beautifully renovated building has a personal feel, from the thoughtful room details to Marieke and David's homemade breakfast. We especially enjoyed the outdoor gin & tonic bar, the excellent à la carte breakfast, and the complimentary drinks in the room. It's right on the Corfu Trail, handy for hikers. This was the most beautiful, welcoming, and comfortable stay we had in Corfu. Highly recommended.

The breakfast was every bit as perfect as the rest, with homemade granola and bread and fresh-squeezed juice to start the day. Marieke and David also took time to chat with all the guests, which made us feel so welcome. Merchants House was the best place we stayed in Corfu, and maybe one of the best we've ever experienced in all our travels. The history research behind the building and the thought put into the rooms, grounds, sitting area, bar, and breakfast space made everything feel magazine-worthy, absolutely perfect. Every detail in the room was wonderful, from the furniture, bed, and linens to the bathing products. The items were high quality, Greek-made, and chosen with the planet's health in mind. They thought of everything to make the stay unforgettable, and they succeeded. We'll never forget this place.

Old Peritheia is a quiet, timeless little village, and we love wandering its streets, stopping at a taverna for local food or visiting the old churches before heading into the mountains for a hike. Corfu's best beaches and fish tavernas are a short drive away, which suits us as sea lovers. We first found this place in 2022 and have returned every year since. The heritage stone walls, wooden beams, and individually charming rooms feel like stepping back in time, all brought to life by David and Marieke. Deedee and Razee greet us with cheerful barks, and their warmth makes each visit easy and familiar. Breakfast in the garden or on the cobbled terrace, with homemade bread, jams, and local honey, is always a highlight. We leave feeling more relaxed each time and already look forward to coming back.

We've come back to The Merchants House in Old Perithia, and it never lets us down. David and Marieke make a perfect host team, with their warm welcome, excellent breakfast service, and useful local tips. The peaceful setting and lovely mountain views keep making this one of our happy places.

We had four lovely nights at the Merchants. The hosts were so friendly, and the breakfast was the best ever. All four taverns nearby were really good too. Angelika and I promise we'll be back for a spring hiking trip. Angelika + Nils
