Booking Irene’s House at the last minute turned out to be one of my best travel decisions. We had been staying in Kyra Panayia and planned a day trip to Saria, with a visit to Olymbos and a drive back at night. That long night drive made us hesitate, so we stayed in this traditional, rustic home right in the centre of Olymbos instead. It’s an ideal base for exploring the island’s north, and I wholeheartedly recommend it if you get the chance to visit this incredible spot on Earth.

We were lucky to find Irene’s House at the last minute for one night in July 2023, and it became a stay we’ll treasure. Irene was so helpful and shared valuable tips about the village and island. She has renovated her family’s traditional two floor home with great care, keeping its original character, and it’s equipped with everything guests might need. The upper balcony is a lovely peaceful spot to watch people arrive and leave the village, with a magnificent mountain view. The house is in the heart of Olympos, fairly close to the parking area, which made moving our luggage convenient. Traditional tavernas with beautiful views and shops selling local products are all around. We fully recommend it and hope to return!

The little village is friendly and welcoming. Local people were happy to talk about their history and traditional way of life, and generous in sharing. With spectacular mountains and beaches nearby, it’s an idyllic place to spend a few days away from the hustle and bustle. Irene’s centrally located traditional house was comfortable and well equipped, and she was extremely helpful. Communication with her was prompt both before and during our stay.

What stood out most was Irene’s wonderful welcome. The recently refurbished house is absolutely quiet, with an open view from the balcony. It suits a couple with children or a couple traveling with a friend. The kitchen and bathroom are very well equipped, and the mattresses are new.

We loved the quiet, traditional place, its excellent location, and the food and very kind people. The hostess was extremely friendly, helpful, and easy to reach. It was a perfect fit for families or couples.
