The Big Blue

The view from our room was breathtaking, and the sunset was one of the best I've ever seen. Everything was so clean and spacious, with all the little details we needed. Towels were always white and fluffy. Each day's breakfast had a different kind of eggs, plus freshly baked bread and cake from Litsa and Pavlos. The marmalades were homemade, and breakfast ran from 9:00 to 12:00, sometimes 12:30, which was great when we wanted a proper sleep. Litsa, Pavlos, Mr Stefanos and everyone at The Big Blue gave us incredible hospitality. They were friendly with our cat, and Marieva was especially lovely with him. They recommended great restaurants, beaches and places to visit. They also make their own Psimeni Raki from their mother's recipe, and would come by to offer a few shots. Buy a bottle, it's amazing! What an incredible trip. The island is dazzling, and The Big Blue made it even better. Thank you all!

We booked four days but ended up leaving without staying. We're fit, slim people in our 50s, but the room we were shown was tiny, and the so-called double bed was far too small for us to sleep in. There wasn't even a remote for the air conditioning. We'd been touring Greece for weeks, and this space was especially poor, though the view was great. It's high up the hill and a fair way from town. The owner seemed very peeved when we left and chased us for cash.

Those sunset evenings on our own little balcony are still on my mind. It felt cozy and private, with a wonderful view across Aegiali village and the bay. The hosts were so warm and welcoming, and always ready to help. Aegiali is beautiful too. We left already wishing we could come back next year. Highly recommend.

Breakfast starts at 9, and there’s a lovely shared outdoor space with a jacuzzi where you can take in the sunset. The rooms also have a panoramic view. The owners are very attentive, and the hotel sits above Aegiali, just a few minutes away on foot. Such a fascinating place.
