Fokas Luxury Villa

Lamprini looks after what we need and makes sure we have everything for our stay. This is our third year at Fokas Villa, and we’re already looking forward to coming back. It’s a comfortable, beautiful house in a great spot, close to beaches and other holiday facilities.

We loved our week and a half here. The villa is beautiful and well suited to a large family or group, with a great pool and plenty of parking. It’s just a two-minute walk from both the beach and town, and the location is amazing. The hosts were great. Highly recommended!

The pool is lovely, and I liked that there’s a child-friendly section. The garden is nicely arranged, with lots of seating areas and great lighting at night. Lamprini was very helpful and provided everything we asked for. Still, I left disappointed after looking forward to this family holiday and finding the villa didn’t match the description. We couldn’t exactly ask for a renovation, right? I hope this helps others make an informed booking decision, something I wish I’d had. The house has a nice architectural structure, but it needs renovation before I’d call it a luxury villa. It may well have been luxurious ten years ago. In theory, it has what a family needs for a week by the sea, but much of the house and garden is old or broken. The kitchen cupboards, especially on the right where the plates are kept, smelled strongly of mold. The cutlery was very low quality, and the stove was extremely slow, with two burners unusable at the same time. The downstairs bedroom needs wall repairs, probably from water infiltration. The bathrooms need attention too: there’s rust and peeling paint. The upstairs bathroom especially felt broken and falling apart, and its furniture was in poor condition. These seem like easy things to fix if the owners checked the villa before the season. The playground slide was broken, with a hole at the top, so children couldn’t use it. The barbecue was in very bad shape, and we had to buy grills to use it. The poolside coffee tables were broken and unstable. I’d also suggest sturdier umbrellas or more shade, since the current ones let the sun through, even though they look nice. One more thing I’m not directing at the landlords: the villa is right beside the main road, so car noise is noticeable during the day and night. If you want a quiet location, this isn’t the villa for you.

The host was really nice, and we were welcomed with lovely gifts. It was very clean and a good choice for a large group, with a pool the kids will enjoy. The only downside is that the villa isn’t on the beach, though that wasn’t a big problem for us. If you visit Thassos, bring mosquito spray. Enjoy!
