Anixi Hotel Mykonos

The rooms were clean and nice, and the location was very good. We arrived to find out that our booking from the US somehow hadn’t gone through, but Helena at the front desk handled it with such patience and kindness. She was helpful throughout our stay, and the service was excellent. Helena really goes above and beyond to make guests comfortable.

This is a great value for Mykonos, and Elena was amazing. The owner replied quickly through booking.com and arranged a taxi to the hotel. I was worried that such an affordable place might be a risk, but we were pleasantly surprised. The room photos online matched what we got. Yes, the rooms are small, but you’re near the beach and everything you need. For about what you’d pay for a Motel 6 in a big city, this place is much better. Don’t be put off by the bad reviews. It’s perfect for what you need on the island. If you want to stay inside all day in a big room with high-speed internet, you should’ve stayed home. I read some of the bad reviews, and some people seem too entitled. As someone from the US, I’m embarrassed to be from the same country as some of those pricks. No wonder so many people hate our country. I would, and will, recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Mykonos.

We’d planned to reach Mykonos as soon as possible after a long trip: 12 hours from Houston to Istanbul, an 8-hour layover, 1.5 hours to Athens, another 2-hour layover, then a 30-minute flight, arriving at 0515. Exhausted, we got to the hotel around 0545. I’d been using my Visa card until I learned taxis on the island only took cash, so the gentleman at reception kindly covered our fare and told me not to worry about paying him back until I could exchange currency. Check-in wasn’t until 1400, but he said he’d try to get us a room sooner and suggested some breakfast places. He watched our luggage while we went to eat. When we got back around 730, he offered us poolside loungers to rest on while we waited. His daughter arrived at 830 and got us into our rooms by 930. We were ready to wait until 1400, so the owners really went out of their way for our early arrival. The rooms were spacious and spotless, with a wonderful ocean view. Staff were friendly and helpful, and reception gave us thoughtful suggestions for places to eat and visit.

The room had everything we needed, and I’d recommend this hotel to family and friends. It’s very close to two beaches, with lots of restaurants and bakeries nearby. The bus stop across the street takes you to Mykonos Town in just 5-10 minutes.
