The swimming pool was spotless and a great place to cool off after a day out. It ranges from about 2ft to 5.5ft deep, and you can’t use it from 8pm to 9am. I assume that’s when it’s maintained and chemicals are added. We hired a car, which gave us the freedom to go wherever we wanted. Rovinia beach was beautiful, though not easy to reach. The local supermarkets had everything we needed for cooking during our stay. Katia Studios was just the peaceful, relaxing place we needed, and Katia was so warm and welcoming. Everything was exceptionally clean and tidy. The beds were firm, which suited me, and the medium-sized flat-screen TV had various channels, including YouTube. We used that to look up places to visit. The kitchenette has two hot plates and a fridge freezer, handy if you’re on a budget and cooking for yourselves. It could use a chopping board and cutting knife, but we managed. The shower room is compact, with enough space for the usual necessities for a bearded man. The rooms had firm beds, good for my comfort level. The TV had a range of channels and YouTube, which we used to research places to visit. The kitchenette has two hot plates and a fridge freezer, ideal for budget self-catering, though we could have used a chopping board and knife. We made do. The shower room was compact but had enough room for all the usual necessities for a bearded man. Quick snorkelling tip: try it in the bath first, stay within your depth, and bring frozen peas. Fish go crazy for them, and I managed to attract a couple of Ornate Wrasse. They’re stunning. Be warned, you’ll want to come back again and again.

It’s a bit of a walk to the main village, but being away from all the hustle and bustle made for a relaxing stay. There’s a small supermarket and some great restaurants nearby, along with two green bus stops, so getting around from the hotel is easy. Katia was lovely and really accommodating, always happy to help. The apartments are great for the price, and there are lots of friendly cats in the grounds.

The shop is about a minute away on foot, Acapulco bar is roughly five minutes away, and there are other good restaurants and bars nearby. The location is brilliant, and the rooms are immaculate. They’re cleaned so thoroughly every 2 days that it feels like checking in all over again. Katia is one of the nicest people I’ve met and truly couldn’t do enough for you. A great place run by a great person. We’ll be back.

Liapades and Rovinia beaches are excellent and close by, though getting to them along the path is a rough trek. Without a hire car, seeing other places means some serious walking. We also liked Elia restaurant and cactus bars nearby, and the local supermarket is very good. The main Paleokastritsa area is less accessible, about a 40 minute walk down. It’s good, clean, well-maintained accommodation, with compact rooms. Since there are only 6 rooms, it feels quiet and relaxed, and the pool has enough loungers for everyone. Katia looks after the place well and offers advice when you need it. Just be aware she’ll get upset if you use the pool after 8pm. My wife went in around midnight to cool off one night and apologised. We didn’t get any replacement toilet rolls, so we were without them for 3 nights and had to use our own. That was a surprising oversight, maybe it was punishment for the swimming, ha ha. It’s a nice, quiet, comfortable place, but a bit too quiet for us.

Katia made the stay especially pleasant, and there were some nice people around too. The place is set back from the beach, but good restaurants and a mini market are only a short walk away, and there’s parking. Our room was basic, though the beds were very comfortable and everything was spotless, inside and out. It had air conditioning and a TV, but we didn’t turn the TV on, so I can’t comment on the channels. The pool seemed big enough for the number of units. We had a very nice stay and would gladly come back.
