Philippos & Maria Apartments

If you want to relive communism, this is the place. We were only there for two nights in transit, and won’t be back. We first came to Paralia about 20 years ago, when it was a nice, decent town. Now it feels run-down and horrible, full of rude people. Anyone who wants a good stay should keep well away from this apartment, and maybe the town itself too. As soon as we arrived, we were told to keep the doors shut because of all the theft. That would be less of a concern if the apartment terrace doors worked: neither could be locked, and the knee-high fence wouldn’t do much to keep thieves out. Only one of the two air conditioners worked, and even that one functioned as a fan. I could accept that more easily in a hot country where you come to enjoy the heat, but it couldn’t run while I was there. After a long trip, a tired traveler might hope to freshen up and shower. Instead, bring your own toilet paper, since it isn’t provided by the hotel. There were no towels either, so if you didn’t bring one, you could buy one for €3 along the row of boutiques. And when it’s time to sleep, the bed is so miserable I can hardly call it a bed.

The host was friendly, and the terrace was wonderful. The location is very good, right at the edge of town.

The apartment was large and very clean, with two rooms, a kitchen stocked with dishes, a bathroom, and a huge terrace furnished with two tables and chairs. The host was excellent and available whenever we needed anything. Highly recommend.

We stayed in the second-floor apartment in 2019, three adults and three children. It was quiet and peaceful, at the end of the village. The host was very nice and left us alone. The beds were good and the linens clean. Everything was fine, and we’ll come again next year. 🏖️🏝️☀️🇬🇷
