Hermes Hotel

We booked three nights but left after the first. The only good thing was that we got a refund for one night. The toilet is inside the shower, which doesn’t drain properly, so water runs into the bathroom and hall. The sheets were dirty, and the mattress had mold on it. When we told the owner, they said those problems were from the previous owner, which is no excuse. The door handles were broken, and the only decent wall outlet was one socket. Showers next door sounded like they were happening right by our ears, while the neighbours’ air conditioning rumbled like a heavy diesel engine all night. Our own contaminated air conditioner later caused respiratory issues. There was no garden view, just a small balcony looking into a narrow passage. Young guests were loud late at night too.

I’ve stayed in plenty of cheap apartments and hotels, but this was below any standard. I’d rather sleep on the beach. The mattress looked about 20 years old, stained and with a hole in the middle where you could feel the bed base. I woke up with really bad back pain. Nobody emptied our room’s trash all day. Most light bulbs were broken, and both the toilet and sink kept leaking. There’s no Wi-Fi, even in the shared areas, and breakfast wasn’t served despite being listed as an option on Booking for 4 euros per person per day. When we complained about the mattress and asked to change rooms, they said not to worry and that everything would be sorted out, including not charging us for the first night. We gave them all morning and half the afternoon, but nothing was fixed. They then offered a smaller room without a balcony, with separate beds and equally bad mattresses. When we tried to check out and pay for just one night, they threatened to charge almost triple the price of our stay or let Booking charge us for all six days. Thankfully I called Booking, and they sorted it out. It’s a shame that a hotel in such a good location with so much potential has been left to rot by uninterested managers.

Good room, clean, and in a handy location. Even at peak season, the price was reasonable. Elena at the front of house was beautiful, helpful, and kind beyond what was expected. She went out of her way to accommodate us and was generous too. Wholeheartedly recommend.

Really good value, exceptionally clean, and newly renovated. The host was super friendly and helpful, and seemed to spend the whole day cleaning. I’d come back.
