Valena Mare

Valena Mare has a lot of charm, with lovely, well kept gardens and the beach only a three minute walk away. Yiannis and his staff made us feel very welcome and were always helpful. Yoannis also sorted out a rental car, sightseeing, food delivery, and a local cooking class for us. I highly recommend staying here.

We stayed in a small apartment with a balcony, mountain views, and a jacuzzi tub, and it was such a relaxing place to come back to. The cold mini fridge and hot plate were thoughtful touches that made it feel homey. The grounds are green and beautiful, with lounge beds and a great pool, and the beach is an easy walk away. It's a quiet place run locally. Yiannis was wonderful, reachable on WhatsApp and helpful with early check-in and a taxi to the airport. We'd absolutely stay again!

The rooms are a little dated, but they're spotless and very well looked after. The whole property feels clean, tidy, and relaxed, and we felt at home straight away. The new owners took over just a few months ago and are doing a fantastic job. The hosts are warm and welcoming, with useful tips about the island and local area, plus great restaurant suggestions. A lovely base for exploring Naxos.

The hotel is wonderfully peaceful, and we had some incredible days there. It would suit couples looking to enjoy the Greek islands away from the usual tourist hotspots. There are a few worn areas in the rooms and around the property, so some renovation is needed, but the place still has a special charm. Our room felt a bit like a small cave, with a terrace, little kitchen, and roomy bathroom with amenities. The family running the hotel were attentive and friendly. Ioannis replied to WhatsApp within minutes and gave us excellent food recommendations. The breakfast isn't a buffet and the choice is limited: breads, jams, cold cuts, Greek yogurt with honey, fruit, juice, and coffee. We were happy with it, and I think Ioannis would have brought more if we'd asked. There are shared spaces, an outdoor breakfast dining area, and a pool with a small bar. The beach is just a three minute walk down a dirt road. There's nothing around the hotel for shopping or eating, so you'll need a car to reach the Plaka beach area, about a five minute drive away, where there are restaurants and a small supermarket. The setting feels natural and quiet, close to what we thought was the island's best beach. Greetings from Madrid.
