Helios Apartments

A beautiful mountain view and a spacious terrace made this affordable place near the sea a good fit for this year. The apartment itself was adequate. The bed was changed every few days, and we got fresh towels, but noise was a problem, especially at night. I told the owner, though it may be difficult to fix. Felt pads might help, for example. We did wonder why people take baths at night. Plakias also has roaring engines late at night, which we had to get used to. It worked for this year, but next time we'll choose somewhere else, perhaps another city.

Our apartment was clean, and the host and staff were friendly. It came with plenty of kitchenware, an iron, a hair dryer and a first aid kit, and the Wi-Fi was fast enough for YouTube. There's a supermarket downstairs, while the beach and bus stop are about a five-minute walk away. It can get very windy in August-September, so check the forecast. There are lots of walking routes around Plakias with beautiful scenery, including Preveli beach, Souda, Myrthios and Sellia.

It wasn't the best apartment, but it wasn't the worst either. There was plenty of space and all the facilities we needed, though the place felt a bit old and short on comfort and luxury. The mattress wasn't very soft.

We always enjoy spending our holidays in plakias. Helios apartments is a quiet, cozy place, with a huge balcony and rooms that are always clean. Looking forward to seeing family alivezakis again.
