Plakias Studios

We’ve stayed at Plakias Studios – Eleni Goumenaki 9 or 10 times since 2007, and after this wonderful week, we’re already looking forward to coming back. The hosts are friendly and very helpful. The location is convenient, about a three-minute walk from the village and its amenities, with several clean, fantastic beaches within walking distance. You can park on the plot, and most rooms have a stunning view over Plakias Bay from the balcony, as does the garden. The rooms have recently been nicely decorated and are, as always, clean and tidy. The main room has suitable furniture and a very good bed, plus a kitchenette for breakfast and small dishes. The bathroom is small, but quite sufficient for a few weeks.

I wouldn't recommend staying here because of the service, even though the location is good and the terrace has a nice view. Be aware that not every room has direct terrace access. The owner barely speaks English and kept starting awkward conversations that made us uncomfortable. The A/C was problematic, as shown in the attached picture, and the owner regularly switched it off while we were out. On a few occasions, water from it poured into our room at night. We were still charged extra for using it, though there was no notice in the room about an extra fee. The landlady seemed neurotic, and the atmosphere in her house wasn't relaxing. Her daughter is well organized, speaks English well, and treats guests well, so I think she should run the business.

Ioanna made me feel very comfortable and promptly took care of every need I had. The room was excellent value, and I was pleasantly surprised by how often it was cleaned while I was out.

I've returned many times over the past 10 years. Eleni and her family go the extra mile for guests, and all the regulars who come back year after year show it. The rooms are clean and well maintained, with beautiful sea views.
