We ended up canceling and losing half the money we'd paid, then had to find another place to stay. The hotel wouldn't refund us after we found the rooms in such poor condition. We had booked three rooms for August 20-26, 2022, but on arrival the hotel was empty. A note on the door sent us to a hotel about 250 meters away to collect the keys. Back at our hotel, we found a broken toilet seat, a broken or dismantled heater, paper stuffed into the AC, and used, empty shower bottles left in the cabin. There was dust and hair around the rooms, torn dirty towels, a dirty balcony table, and a ripped insect screen. We'd asked for double beds, but one room had twin beds pushed together. I looked for the manager so I could show him photos and ask for a refund. Staff said he was out of the area and couldn't be reached by phone, but would arrive in an hour. While we waited, they sent a woman with supposedly clean towels, carrying them under her arm along the street. I stopped her and said we didn't want a fix, we wanted our money back. When the hour passed, the manager was still unreachable. Booking.com told me the host would have to waive the cancellation fees, which required the manager's consent. Eventually the employees said he'd declined by phone and offered only a free meal each day at the dirty, disgusting cafeteria.
