Sonio Beach Hotel

We only ate here once because we didn't enjoy the restaurant. The young waiter was rude and judgmental, even though we weren't ill and the food seemed to be gluten free. The atmosphere was flat, and the food wasn't anything special. The manager gave the usual assurances about gluten-free food, but then listed rice as one of the gluten-free items, which was a red flag for me. When the ice cream and sauce arrived, I asked if they were safe for us. He said he didn't know and walked away.

My boyfriend and I love Greek food, and we had the best food of our trip here. Everyone was kind and really friendly, and our room was perfect. We arrived as the first guests of the season and felt welcome straight away. The location is handy too, with several shops within walking distance and the beach only a few metres away. I'd definitely recommend staying here, and I can't wait to come back.

Sonio Restaurant was incredible, and the beach nearby is arguably the best stretch on Crete's west side. It's only a minute's walk away. Having a pool at the property was nice too, especially for a change of pace or some afternoon shade. Sofia runs the place so well, and she was friendly and helpful. The colorful, fun property is nicely decorated, and the modern rooms are clean and have everything needed for a comfortable stay, including a kitchenette for preparing meals. Our whole stay was perfect. We've only just got home and are already thinking about another visit. Thanks to Sofia and all the staff at Sonio, can't wait to return!

We loved eating breakfast while looking at the sea and listening to the waves. The beach is right in front, and the center, with plenty of restaurants and bars, is close by. The owners were very sweet and welcoming. Our room was clean and had enough furniture for putting things down. Parking was the awkward part: the road into the hotel's lot is so narrow that meeting another car there was embarrassing. Even with that, I'd still give the hotel five stars.
