Falassarna House

Mr Antonis was a delightful host, and the place had everything we needed and more. It was spacious and well equipped, with a frappe maker, espresso and filter coffee makers, microwave, regular cooker, parasol, TV and air conditioning in every room. The location was perfect in a quiet village, near supermarkets and nice taverns. Falasarna beach is only a 5-10 minute drive away, though there are few, if any, places within walking distance. Balos and Elafonisi are around 20-40 minutes by car. It was much better than the photos and reviews led us to expect. The price felt low for the quality and location. I don't usually return to the same place, but I'll make an exception.

The owners were wonderfully welcoming, and the apartments were lovely. We'll choose this accommodation again on future trips to Crete.

Mr. Antonis and his daughter Chrisa gave us a lovely welcome, and our stay at Platanos was excellent. Honestly, everything was perfect. The house had all the comforts and supplies we could want. The welcome basket was packed with raki and rakomelo, water, juice, fruit, cakes and a bottle of local wine. There were three bedrooms, though our party of three used only two, and they were all carefully prepared with towels on every bed. The house also had mosquito repellent plugs, nightlights, cleaning supplies, plenty of toilet paper, washing machine tablets, shower gel, shampoo, soap, everything needed for cooking and all the condiments. My one request was that the place be very clean, and it was immaculate. I asked about a beach umbrella, and Mr. Antonis bought a new one. He also let us stay in the house as long as we wanted on departure day, so service was flawless. The house looked even better than the photos. The wraparound balcony had three tables and eight chairs, and the living room was huge. It was a very large, well equipped home, and all the air conditioning worked wonderfully. The bathroom now has a hook for the shower head, which had been missing according to some earlier reviews, so that was fixed. Platanos was a perfect location for us since we know Crete and had come to enjoy Falasarna. The house is on the main road, and some drivers do go fast sometimes, but it wasn't bothersome. The value for the service was unbeatable, especially in peak season. My only complaint, which is common in Greece and Crete, is that the pillows were too firm for me. We've been back to Crete three times, and I've slept in worse places, so I can't fault it. I'll bring my own pillow next time.
