Hotel Anna

We spent less than a week here for our honeymoon and left disappointed. Friends told us their stays in other nearby beach areas were better, and I’d spend the extra 200-300$ for a better hotel. Getting there was already exhausting. After a stuffy, hot two-hour ferry from Santorini, we took a bus from the port to the centre, then waited thirty minutes for another bus close to Hotel Anna. It was 28 degrees and very hot, so the room felt like a sauna when we arrived. Hotels can turn on the air conditioning before guests arrive to make a better first impression, but that wouldn’t have worked here anyway. The system needs the one magnet key to be inside the room and all doors and windows closed, so after a day at the beach we came back to a sauna again. It took us about ten minutes to work out how to open the front door. It can be set to open just a crack like a window, which seemed useless. The safe used an old-fashioned key that looked like it came from an 1800s dungeon, and the room also had a physical key instead of a swipe pass. Carrying the safe key all day was a hassle. The TV channels were dull, and the bed and pillows were uncomfortably hard. The public section of the beach was only about 20ft wide, with around 100 people crowded into it. I wished the hotel had its own pool area. The long, steep ramp to and from our room was annoying too.

Our room was spacious, and the location made it easy to walk to the beach and nearby places to eat. Scorpios is about 15-20 minutes away on foot. The route to the club is a bit rough, so bring a torch or use your camera light. We arranged paid transfers both ways, which were handled well. The staff helped us with everything and even moved us to a sea-view room.

The staff took care of all the little things, from our luggage to restaurant bookings, and made sure we had what we needed. Our balcony had a lovely view, and I was surprised by how affordable the stay was. The beach is right beside the hotel, and it’s a really nice one. If you’re staying in Mykonos, especially Platis Gialos, this place has everything you need. We had a great time and plan to return.

The room was the nicest one I’ve ever stayed in at a hotel, with new furniture and everything kept remarkably clean and well cared for. The beds were big and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and always ready to help. It’s also just a 30-second walk to Platis Gialos beach, and every room has an incredible, romantic balcony view. Such good value for the price.
