The room was in a basement area that felt like a storage room, and the property photos hadn’t prepared us for that. As soon as we walked in, a strong musty smell bothered my children, aged 3 and 11, who have allergies, and they started coughing. We also found a large live spider above the bed, webs on the wall below it, another kind of spider on the floor, and several mosquitoes. I took photos. With the children’s health in mind, we couldn’t stay, so we checked out within an hour of arriving. Getting help was difficult from the start. We waited in the garden without finding anyone, until someone noticed us, called the owner, and showed us to the room. When we tried to reach the owner about the conditions, he didn’t want to meet us and said there was nothing we could do since we had booked the room. After we had contacted Booking.com and decided to leave, he arrived and insisted the room had just been cleaned and that there was no problem. I showed him the spiders and webs and explained the smell, but he said there were no major issues and offered no solution. He told us to contact Booking.com, though we had already done so, and then we left. We had come from Istanbul to the Althea resort on Thassos that day, with a reservation through Booking.com. Even though the booking was partially refundable, we asked for a full refund because we hadn’t stayed and the room wasn’t suitable for accommodation. We still lost 50% for a room we never used. With two children, we then had to pay at another property at the last minute. We were badly inconvenienced. Don’t be fooled by the property photos.

There’s a lovely big yard with games for the kids, and the room was very nice!

The apartment felt cozy, and restaurants and supermarkets are very close by. The hostess was really nice.

A car makes this location especially convenient. Hiking trails start right here, and everything worked out well for us.
