Lidea Boutique Hotel

The apartments at Lidea are roomy, modern, and beautifully renovated, with a calm, comfortable feel. Each morning there was a light, homely breakfast to start the day. What stayed with us most was how Dimitris, Maria, and their son Manolis welcomed our young family and baby. They were so affectionate toward our daughter, always offering a kind word, gentle gesture, or smile. Their care made us feel at home, almost like we were visiting family. From the first moment, they were sincere, warm, and eager to help, the kind of Greek filoxenia that feels increasingly rare. Their generous hospitality was a big part of what made our time on Kythera so special. We can’t wait to come back.

The garden was beautiful, the room spacious, and breakfast was excellent, with a little variation from day to day. Even the practical details were covered: the hotel has its own generator for the area's fairly frequent power cuts, plus a water pressurizer, something I haven't come across in an island hotel before. Very forward thinking. The family treats guests like their own, and the care, kindness, and cleanliness were beyond what we expected. Everything seemed purposeful and well looked after, from the design to the way the place is run. They also shared useful tips and information, along with personal and historical stories about the island. It was one of our best holiday experiences. Dimitris and Maria looked after us and the hotel with real care. We don't usually ask for advice, but Dimitris took the time to explain the island and show us how to enjoy it. His recommendations were genuinely useful and made our stay much better. The hotel was clean and neat, with a high level of design and lots of thoughtful details. Breakfast was excellent too, carefully varied and full of local products and exceptional flavors. We'd happily recommend it.

Potamos was a quiet, picturesque village, and LIDEA sits in a peaceful corner there. In about a three-minute walk, we could reach taverns, a supermarket, bakery, bars, and shops. Kythera is quite a large island. The south gets more tourists, but the northern part is worth exploring too, with beautiful organised and wild beaches to discover. We visited in late August 2022 and stayed at LIDEA for a few days. It was such a nice experience. The hotel feels personal, with the owners' touch everywhere. Dimitris and Maria did their best to look after guests, always with a smile. Dimitris took time to tell us where to go, swim, and eat. The building is recent, so everything looked brand new. It was comfortable and nicely decorated, with some unique, elegant furniture that Maria had chosen and refurbished. The rooms were spacious, with modern shower rooms. The beds had Cocomat mattresses and pillows, fine bed linen, and fresh towels. There was a Nespresso coffee machine, tea bags, and water waiting in the room, and the Wi-Fi was perfect. Breakfast had a wide variety of local food, plus eggs, fresh bread, croissants, cheese, and ham every day. There was fresh orange juice and handmade cakes or pancakes too. Maria took good care of us.
