Villa Melina

The villa is a beautiful old building, and we liked its character as well as the large pool and lounge chairs. There are many types of rooms spread through the building and around the pool. The price is reasonable for what's offered. Our room had apparently been renovated, but still looked outdated. The balcony was so small it was hard to sit on, especially with the air conditioner unit outside getting very hot. The villa itself also feels dated, and the garden isn't kept up or clean and has no decoration. It seems nobody takes proper care of how the place looks, with attention going only to problems as they come up. It's a shame, because this villa is a gem and could be beautiful with the right care, and I think guests would agree to pay more for that. The location is far from the center, and the walk there involves a slope, with an uphill walk back. The pool is good and quite large, but breakfast was a serious problem. The buffet was always missing something, and there weren't enough seats. The owner's explanations didn't seem reasonable: that guests came in between to change and add food, or that food had been prepared for 60 people but a few people took food endlessly until there was none left for others. To me, those problems point to poor organization and maintenance.

The owners were very nice, and we had a wonderful time overall. We did have a small issue with the pool and its chlorine level. It's a beautiful little hotel in a unique old villa, but check that your room has been fully renovated, since not all the bathrooms have been updated.

Great breakfast, and worth the money. The villa is lovely, with a huge pool you can swim in at any time. The many cats will steal your food and your attention, haha. It feels pretty close to the center, maybe a 5 minute walk. The house reminded me more of Italy than Greece. My only issue was the mattress, which was pretty hard to sleep on, though that might just be me.

The rooms were clean, comfortable, and lovely, and there's a great swimming pool in the courtyard. Breakfast was excellent, especially the homemade pastry with local foods. Villa Melina is a cozy hotel run by a lovely family, and it gave us a real home-like experience. Our host was kind, friendly, and helpful, and the stay felt like making new friends as well as having a great hotel experience. We can't thank this beautiful family enough. Our host made the holiday fabulous, and we're sending our gratitude and best wishes. We'll be back soon and strongly recommend the hotel. I couldn't leave a review on booking.com because of technical problems, which really upset me, though the existing reviews say enough about this excellent hotel.
