Balkan House

Those two balconies were my favorite part. I loved having coffee outside in the morning and a cold Mythos in the evening. There’s no coffee maker, so bring one or get coffee from the shop next door. We stayed in apartment number 5, which is large, well furnished, and nicely positioned across the road, facing the garden and the sea. The sea is a little far away, but you can see it. The furniture is older, though in very good condition, and the rooms are a bit dated. There’s a big fridge with a freezer on top, and the kitchenette has plenty of utensils, plates, cups, glasses, and pots. I usually deduct points if there’s no corkscrew, but didn’t check this time, so no points either way. The large bathroom has a shower cabin, sink, typical cabinet with a mirror, and two spotlights, as is common in Greece. The lighting is limited, so be careful shaving. I hope they fix the toilet flush, which often sticks open and keeps the water running. It takes a bit of jiggling, or rarely, intervention under the hood. There are two TVs, probably with satellite, but I didn’t even turn them on. The AC is well placed in the living area, but sits above the bedroom bed. The rooms are high enough that it wasn’t a big problem. The beds were comfortable, with firm mattresses, and I slept well. The owner was polite and helpful, and speaks English pretty well, so communication was easy. Honestly, this was the best pension or privately owned house I’ve stayed in in Greece, and I’ve been staying in places like that at least once a year since 2007. I highly recommend Balkan House. The price was the fairest and most honest I’ve ever paid in Greece.
