Pension Filitsa

We had a terrible experience and I wouldn't recommend this place. There was no parking, so we left the car in the city center and had a long walk each day. Three rooms shared a kitchen and fridge, with no fridge in the rooms themselves. Our room had almost no space between the bed and walls, a strong damp smell, and no soundproofing at all. We could hear someone showering through closed doors. It shared something like a yard with the next room, so there was no privacy. The owner lived just above us on the first floor and kept checking on us, which made us feel watched. This was closer to a low-quality hostel than a pension or apartment.

This is a small, charming guesthouse, about 200m from downtown. The rooms are nicely equipped, with little balconies, and ours even had a sea view. The owner runs it with real warmth and passion, and his artwork in the rooms reflects the family tradition of this house from the 1920s.

Pension Filitsa was a great experience for me and my partner, easily one of the best pensions I've stayed at. I travel a lot and have stayed with hosts in many parts of the world. The facilities were great, with clean spaces, beds, bathrooms and kitchen, among other things. Petros and Maria made us feel very welcome.

When I was heading to Pylos without anywhere booked, I found Pension Filitsa on Google Maps and called. Petros kindly found me a room despite my not having a reservation, gave me directions to the nearest bus stop and saved me a longer walk. It was reasonably priced and spotless, with fresh white sheets. Petros and Maria have set up the rooms in a charming, practical way, including a well-equipped kitchen and all the cutlery you need. I fell ill during my holiday, and they took such good care of me. As a solo traveller, I felt at home and safe from the first day. The location was very convenient, five minutes on foot to the center and seven to the beach, and there's a lovely garden where you can enjoy a drink. I left Pension Filitsa very happy and satisfied. Their care and passion for the work reminded me there are still wonderful people who do their jobs with heart, not just for money. As Petros wisely said, “Measurement in life is BEAUTY.” I highly recommend Pension Filitsa and hope to return.
