Mare Dei Suite Hotel Ionian Resort

The architecture gives this hotel a special atmosphere, and it looks very nice. The employees seemed a little cold to me, though. Breakfast was the poorest I’ve ever seen. We stayed a week and got the same two jams, apricot and strawberry, every day. Just white bread, no croissants or anything else. No feta or olives either. We’re in Greece!

We had a really large room with a great view, and the sandy beach was perfect for swimming. There’s a huge pool too, though I don’t understand why a rope closes it from 7pm until 11am. The place is right by the beach, with friendly service, and Olympia is a 30-minute drive away. A perfect base for several days, with one day spent in Olympia.

The restaurant was a lovely place to watch the sunset over fresh, tasty food, with a small, carefully chosen selection of local wines. We’d swim in the warm Ionian Sea at the private, secluded sandy beach, then relax by the beautiful large infinity pool and have some delicious bar food. We wanted the calmest, most tranquil side of Greece, and this stay went beyond what we expected. The boutique hotel is beautifully designed, and the rooms are stylish, spacious and modern. The view is breathtaking, like something out of a movie. Everyone on staff was lovely, kind and attentive. We saw couples and families, but it never felt crowded. We left feeling calm, happy, relaxed and recharged. Thank you so much, and we’ll see you soon.

The large rooms have great sea views, and the beach access is amazing. But a connecting door links the rooms, so you can hear everything next door. Half-board dinner was the same food each day, with a limited menu that got boring after one meal. There wasn’t anywhere else to eat locally, so the restaurant took away from the hotel’s otherwise really good features.
