Sandalis Hotel

The rooms are clean and have what I expect from a Greek hotel room: a nostalgic feel, warm little headlights, a cute terrace overlooking a historic settlement, and strong air conditioning. It won’t run if you open the terrace doors. There’s a small parking lot beside the hotel, with space for maybe 5 cars. You can walk anywhere at reasonable hours, otherwise grab a sunbrella :D The hotel staff and owner were neutral. I ate at other places.

I love the views here, and you can walk to the bars and shops by the pier. It’s a cozy little hotel, the owner is lovely and accommodating, and the prices are hard to beat. This is the only place I’ll stay on Samos, and I’d recommend Sandalis Hotel to anyone.

The location worked really well: the hotel backs onto the countryside and mountain, but the main street is just a couple of minutes away. From our balcony we could see both the mountain and the sea, and the ancient city of Samos archaeological site is right across the street. The whole town is lovely, and I highly recommend staying here. Maria, the owner, was warm, friendly, and helpful. Our room, bathroom, and balcony were spotless, with fresh bed linen every day. The beds were comfortable, and the little kitchenette and hob came in handy. I was glad the fridge was quiet since it was near the bed. When a light stopped working, it was fixed straight away. The decor is a bit dated, but has a traditional Greek feel. Rates are reasonable too.

The sunset views from the balcony were breathtaking, and the hotel’s outside is lovely, with lots of greenery and bougainvillaea. It’s an affordable option in Pythagorio. There’s no parking at the hotel, but the large free public lot near Pythagoreio beach had plenty of room. Inside, the decor is a little kitschy, though kind of cute. The room had a small stove and fridge, and it was cleaned and the beds made every day. Wi-Fi was quite decent. I wasn’t keen on the bathroom tile choice, but that’s personal taste.
