Achillion Palace

That pool view was lovely, and we could get a sunbed each day. The pool area was always tidy, and staff said they’d do their best to bring out more loungers when it got busier. At the pool bar, Silia worked incredibly hard and made brilliant coffee, cocktails, and food. We spent a week here and had a wonderful time. Our room was spacious, the bed was comfortable, and the air conditioning was great. The bathroom looked a little dated but worked fine. Breakfast had a good choice, especially the fresh fruit. The whole team made the stay: housekeeping kept our room lovely, breakfast staff were welcoming and kept everything clean, and Kostas and Popi at reception were super friendly and helpful. They even booked us a table at the local farm and suggested restaurants. It’s an excellent location, with the old town’s elegant shops and lots of restaurants a short walk away, and the beach is close too, with sun loungers and cafes. Our flight home was late, and though we’d hoped to keep our room into the evening, the fee was too expensive. We could still use the pool, shower, and toilets all day, and leave our luggage in the foyer.

The staff and breakfast were wonderful, and the beds were really comfortable. The location is perfect, close to pretty much everything, including the Old Town and the beach.

We stayed for 9 nights and loved how close the hotel is to the beach, shops, restaurants, and sightseeing. The rooms are a bit dated in style, but they’re clean, spacious, comfortable, and seem to come with a big balcony. The rooftop pool and bar were a great alternative when we’d had enough of the beach, or didn’t want to pay for sun chairs. The courtyard is beautifully decorated, cozy, and relaxing. Staff were welcoming, kind, and always greeted us with a smile. Reception is open 24/7 and helped with everything from booking tours and local parking to letting us check out as late as possible for our late flight home.

The rooms felt very old, so I’m not sure why this place is rated four stars. The safe in the closet was unusable because its door wouldn’t open, close, or latch. The shower head points the wrong way, housekeeping left just one large bath towel for two adults each day, and the room phone wouldn’t connect to reception. Be cautious about booking experiences through the front desk. The staff were friendly, but seemed unsure about important details. One told us we couldn’t buy food during the trip and had to bring our own, even though food was available to purchase on the ferry. They also didn’t explain how much walking the Balos & pirate island tour involved, which was quite a lot. They had no cultural restaurant recommendations either, and their English wasn’t the greatest.
