Bellagio Boutique Hotel

We gave up waiting at reception and took our key back. Five minutes passed without anyone showing up, and the phone in the room was dead when we tried to call down. We left for the nearby Rimondi, where they were incredibly helpful and found us a room for the week even though they were full. I emailed the Bellagio to explain why we had gone, but never got a reply. The room had flies and a small army of ants on the floor, and smelled as if it hadn't been used in years. Our welcome had been a grunt and a point toward the room from a grumpy man. After travelling for ten hours and arriving mid-afternoon, we had hoped for something warmer, especially after reading about the 'wonderful hosts' in reviews. I might have understood the indifferent reception if we'd arrived at 2am and been checked in by the night porter. We even wondered if the online reviews were for the same place.

We couldn't get away from the noise, even with earplugs and white noise playing. The bed was very uncomfortable, and the AC didn't work, so the room was hotter than outside. Our only window opened onto the hotel's lobby and stair corridor. Opening it brought in cigarette smoke from the owner smoking in the foyer below. We knew we'd be in the main area, but it was still loud for much of the night. Changing rooms meant paying for an upgrade. I wouldn't recommend it.

The room was lovely, with a really comfortable bed, and the AC was working again. It's a super cozy hotel right in the middle of the old town, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was fine, though nothing special. I'd definitely recommend it and hope I can return one day!

Such a cute place, and the interior looks great. But our room had no windows, and its AC barely worked, more like a weak fan. It was hotter and more humid inside than out. Another room was available, but we'd have had to pay extra to move into it.
