Casa Maistra Residence

The apartment had plenty of useful touches, from TVs and air conditioning in the living room and both bedrooms to a kitchen stocked with a kettle, coffee machine, toaster, microwave, crockery, cutlery, and fridge. There’s also a washing machine in a small laundry room upstairs. We used it twice, and our clothes dried quickly on the rack on the roof terrace. One small heads-up: the TV menus and washer controls are in Greek. We used Google Translate’s camera view to get into Netflix and choose the right wash settings. Our city-view apartment had a living room with a small kitchen, a downstairs bedroom with the bathroom between the two, and a second bedroom upstairs on a mezzanine. The spiral staircase to the upper room also leads to the roof terrace, whose door has an electronic security shutter. The street entrance and apartment door both use keypads, which meant we could go out without carrying keys. The bathroom had a big sink, a toilet with a douche shower, and a spacious walk-in shower with both a rainfall head and a handheld wand. Casa Maistra worked well for us because we already knew Rethymno from two earlier visits. The main car park is about a five-minute walk away, the beach is around ten minutes away, and the old town restaurants are close by. Marinos answered our questions promptly even before we reached Crete and stayed responsive throughout. One day we returned to find a delicious apple and cinnamon cake he’d bought for us. We never met him in person, but the friendly messages made us feel as if we had. We were very happy with the stay.

The old city of Rethymno is a nice place to stay, and the location was good. Parking took some figuring out. There’s a lot about a seven-minute walk away that costs 17 euros a day. Be ready for lots of stairs and no elevator, so I wouldn’t bring suitcases.

Marinos, thanks for everything. The apartment was just right, with comfy beds, a great shower, and lots of thoughtful little touches. When something came up, it was sorted quickly, and there were even secret deliveries of homemade cakes. The location was fabulous, and the care and service were spectacular. I’d give it more than five stars if I could!

A gem right in the centre of Rethymnon town. The rooms feel like a fairy tale, with lovely design, lots of space, and all the comforts and accessories you could want. The landlord has thought of so many details. Booking was quick and easy, the location is excellent, and the Greek hospitality made the whole experience amazing.
