Dyo Beach Suites

The rooms were wonderful, and breakfast was super yummy. Chrysa looked after us from the minute we arrived right through to the end of our stay. She was such a hospitable host. We loved staying at Dyo Beach Suites and can’t wait to come back.

The hotel is beautiful and has a lovely mix of comfort and calm. What stayed with me most was the care from the staff, especially Chrysa. Her attention to guests and all the little details made me feel so welcome and looked after. I had a wonderful stay and hope to return soon. I can’t recommend it enough.

We spent five nights in the Sunrise suite and two in the Helios suite, and would happily come back. Since the property was new and had only a few reviews when we booked, I wanted to share more detail. Dyo beach suites felt like a private beachside oasis, at a standard we haven’t found elsewhere on our travels. Chrysa handled everything with such grace, from breakfast orders to arranging taxis. She was always smiling and made the place feel like home. We didn’t rent a car. She sorted our airport transfers and was always around to help book a taxi, so getting about was easy. Both suites we stayed in were impeccable. The design looked lovely and was practical too, with well-placed switches and sockets and lots of windows for natural light. The beds were very comfortable, and the cot for our toddler was great. The private pools are heated, which is especially nice outside peak summer. Doors open with a keypad, so there’s no key to keep track of, and the rooms have both ceiling fans and air conditioning. The suites are right on the beach, between a larger hotel and a beach club. Some parts of the beach are rocky, so bring water shoes if you plan to swim. It’s about a ten-minute drive or taxi ride to Rethymno, with its shops, restaurants, and nightlife. A few minutes’ walk up the track gets you to the main road, where there’s a supermarket and some tavernas. Platanias, with plenty of good places to eat, is another 10-15 minutes on foot if you’d rather not head into town. We heard music from the beach club on one or two nights. Chrysa had warned us, and it didn’t bother us. Without our toddler, we’d have joined the party. Baja beach club next door is family friendly, which is a plus with kids. There’s no restaurant at the suites, but breakfast was a real treat. The generous menu included eggs, omelettes, pancakes, fresh fruit, cheeses, and more. The chef was happy to make small changes to dishes, and everything was delivered fresh to our door at a time that suited us. It was delicious, and we often had leftovers for lunch. The kitchen facilities are small, though there are plenty of affordable and varied food options nearby if you want to take it easy. I’d recommend Dyo beach suites for couples, young families, or friends looking for a private retreat. We can’t wait to return, and hope Chrysa is still there when we do.
