Mansio Boutique Hotel

We liked the staff a lot, especially Dimitrous at breakfast, who was kind and made a great omelette. Breakfast had a good selection, including hot dishes made to order, and they left us a complimentary bottle of wine and nibbles. Our room was spacious, with a good seating area for four adults. The location is right in Old Town, a few minutes from restaurants and shops, and no more than a 10-minute walk to the waterfront. We could hear everything from outside, particularly during a night storm in the loft room, when we hardly slept. The divider between the two bedrooms was so thin that sound carried as if we were in one room. Given the high price, the hotel didn’t feel like the best value and didn’t quite meet our expectations, though we did enjoy the stay.

I booked directly on the hotel website, and that meant they could cancel my reservation without fees. I’d chosen the wrong dates by mistake, even though the booking was meant to be non-refundable, but when I called, a lovely woman kindly waived the charge despite the error being mine. That’s why I’d say to contact hotel owners directly when possible instead of relying on Booking.com and similar sites. Small businesses avoid the big platforms’ hefty commissions, and the service can be more personal and flexible.

We spent a week at Mansio Boutique Hotel and were thrilled with it. The rooms were spacious and cleaned every day, the staff were friendly and very helpful, and breakfast was varied and freshly prepared. The location is fantastic, right in the heart of Rethymno, so getting around town is easy. There’s also free parking in a public lot. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Rethymno.

We loved our stay here and would happily recommend the hotel. The staff were friendly and accommodating from the moment we arrived. Our room was excellent and well maintained. It’s in Old Town, within easy walking distance of the shops and beach. A car would be useful if you want to explore, and the hotel has parking. We’ll be back!
