Amaryllis Hotel

The staff were rude, disrespectful and extremely unfriendly. The room door barely opened, and I had to shove it to get inside. Air conditioning dripped onto my hair dryer and broke it. The bathroom was so unhygienic and disgusting that I couldn’t bring myself to shower there, so I used beach clubs instead. It was tiny too, with the toilet right in front of the sink, leaving me having to squeeze around it just to sit down. The rooms smelled awful. I’ve travelled to many countries and stayed in countless hotels, and this was by far the worst. I’d already seen the photos and didn’t expect much, but the place was even worse in person. I’ve never seen anything so disgusting. It’s on the level of a very cheap flop, and I’ve seen better even at that level. Absolutely not recommended.

Guests on the 4th floor were allowed to blast music through speakers at 11 pm, shout and make excessive noise night after night. It disturbed people at this hotel and guests at at least three other hotels nearby. The hotel’s tolerance of this felt very unprofessional, disgusting and rude. The police should be called for disturbing the peace and public order.

The rooftop had a beautiful sunset and view, and we had a lot of fun during our week-plus stay. The hotel is right in the city center, close to the beach and the most popular bars. Staff were absolutely great, we made friends with quite a few and they even gave us free shots. The food was decent, breakfast was good for the price, and the restaurant and bar were a nice place to sit and watch the football games that were on. Most of the problems were in the room. It was supposedly cleaned almost every day, but I kept finding bits of hair on the floor, so I’m not sure there was much actual cleaning or if they just changed the towels. One bedroom had a dead cockroach, and ants were living near the toilet and behind a door in the other. The insect issue needs fixing immediately. The air conditioning looked brand new in one room and ancient in the other. It’s a 2* hotel, and we did enjoy our stay and the friendly staff, but if they sort out the hygiene problems, they’d have it all in the bag.

Centrally located, though the area is noisy. It’s a budget hotel, and you can hear a lot through the corridors, which made for a very loud night. The bed was comfortable, and the staff were friendly and professional. The air conditioning worked, which is worth mentioning, but I wasn’t given any toilet paper at first. You get what you pay for.
