Being inside the castle walls made it easy to explore the history on foot, and the location really can’t be beaten if that’s what you’re there for. Nearby restaurant music can carry late into the night, though, so it may not suit families with kids or light sleepers. The place has modern updates while keeping some original features, including a brick stone fireplace and exposed wooden ceiling beams. There’s also a modern shower, which isn’t always easy to find in Greece, and the most comfortable bed I slept in on my whole trip.

It’s a great location, just a few quiet yards from the tourist bars. Stergos was very helpful and picked us up at Gate D'Amboise in his golf cart.

There was an infestation of cockroaches, ants, and other insects in the room at Domus Studios. We had to leave because of the cockroaches, which left us seriously concerned about our health and safety. The host didn’t offer us another place, and we didn’t get a refund.

The apartment had generous space for two, and the kitchen was well equipped for breakfast and small meals. There are lots of restaurants nearby. It’s in a very good spot in old Rhodes town. The friendly host collects guests in a golf buggy from the town wall gates, where taxis drop you off. One thing to know: there’s a staircase from the bedroom and bathroom up to the mezzanine kitchen and dining area, so it won’t work well if you have trouble with stairs.
