Kókkini Porta Rossa

The owners and staff were generous and gracious, and gave us useful local advice as things came up. This gorgeous, intimate boutique hotel was perfectly located and had every comfort we could want. The open bar, free snacks, and over-the-top gourmet breakfast were the icing on the cake. A perfect stay.

The service was the best part, better than at some of the world's top hotels. We got personalized daily ideas for activities and meals on the tablets or our phones, plus suggestions for Symi and Lindos after checkout. They asked about pillow preferences and had them ready when we arrived. For my husband's birthday, they gave him a lovely gift he said was the best he'd ever received from anyone outside family or close friends. When our ferry was cancelled just as we were checking out, the hotel sorted the whole problem within minutes. We also loved the endless free snacks and drinks, including alcohol, in the room. Our room, Michalis, was stunning, with a private courtyard, Jasmine and Rosemary plants, two seating areas, and a plunge pool. We used it most afternoons and sometimes after dinner, relaxing by the ancient city walls. The four-course gourmet breakfast was a treat, though you could skip dishes or grab something quickly if you wanted to head out. The boutique luxury hotel came close to perfect, with thoughtful touches and lots of amenities. A few room details could be improved: occasional moped noise, wet bathroom floors after showers because there was no glass door, and a musty smell at first. Staff worked hard to air out the room and clear the smell, likely left by a previous guest. We highly recommend it for a unique stay and top-level service. Thank you, Angela, Nikos, Paris and Julia!

Getting between the old and new town was easy, and the rooms and amenities were incredible, right down to a generous choice of perfumes in the suite. Their restaurant suggestions and tips for making the most of Rhodes will spoil you for other stays. Nikos, Angela, Paris and Julia made us feel like family in the serene haven they've created at Kokkini Porta Rossa. The peaceful courtyard breakfasts were sublime and added another level of luxury to the trip. After 30 years of travel, this was the most extraordinary hospitality we've experienced. I can't think of enough good things to say, and I can't wait to return.
