Mariette Rhodes Urban Suites

The good outweighed the bad, and we did enjoy our stay at Mariette Urban Suites. The room was clean and modern, the bed comfortable, and the balcony was nice. The room cleaning staff were very kind, and communication during booking was good. It's a 15-minute walk from the city center and Rhodes old town, with a supermarket two minutes away. The room interior is basic, and the pool stays shaded most of the day and closes at 18:00. Still, several little maintenance issues added up: the soap dispenser and bathroom door lock were broken, the shower drained badly, a light flickered, and there were no mosquito nets on the windows or doors. For ten nights we got only two Nespresso cups, even after asking for more. One or two of these things can happen, but all together it felt like poor upkeep. We also had power cuts on multiple nights in a row. When the power returned, the TV came on automatically, and once the lights came on too. One night we had no hot water. A little more effort could have made things better.

The room was clean and spacious, and it's about 15 minutes from the center and beaches. We checked ourselves in, which was fine, but they didn't ask for our passports and that raised a safety question for me. There was a coffee machine, but only two capsules for our three-night stay. When I asked for more, they said no, and they didn't sell extra capsules either. I couldn't help wondering what the point of the machine was.

We had a magical holiday and were looked after so well. Nicolas was extraordinarily kind and helpful, and the rooms were gorgeous with a fantastic balcony. The location was perfect, and having a swimming pool was such a treat. We absolutely loved our stay. A million thank yous. 🥰

Nicolas, who manages the hotel, was fantastic, friendly and so helpful. I probably gave the poor man a hard time! Breakfast was continental, with meat, cheese, fruit, yogurt and bread, plus juice and coffee. One morning Nicolas kindly shared oranges and pomegranate from the trees around the pool. The room was spacious, very clean and top class, with a brilliant balcony that wrapped around the building and got sun all day. The wet room shower had a divider to keep the rest of the bathroom dry, the shower was great, the amenities were all there and the bed was very comfortable. There's a useful hint too: the air conditioning only runs when the balcony door is shut. I stayed the last weekend in September and couldn't fault the place. The pool was clean, with plenty of tables and loungers, and it was fun seeing little birds use it in the morning while we had breakfast. The hotel sits on a mostly quiet street in an upmarket residential area, with a nice supermarket two minutes away. It's central to both the new and old parts of Rhodes, around a 10-15 minute walk to most nearby attractions. Every hotel and every guest is different, but I highly recommend this one.
