Hotel Pefkos Beach

The funicular at the hotel was one of the best things, making it much easier to get up in the heat. This part of Rhodes felt especially hot, with no wind at all. We didn’t use the hotel pool or restaurant because we preferred eating elsewhere. The village location was convenient, though the sea was a bit of a walk away and we managed it. The room was large and spacious, with three beds and a big bathtub you could lie down in. We also had a generous balcony where we ate breakfast and dinner, and the hotel parking was excellent. It was a good hotel, but next time we’ll probably stay in a different part of the island where it isn’t as hot.

The bay views from our apartment were superb, and we could choose between several pools. In October there were always loungers available. We were on a package deal, which I suspect means being placed in the apartments at the back. Ours was up 85 steps, though the little funicular can spare you some of that climb. That setup may not work for everyone, but the stay met our expectations.

I’m not staying at the hotel, so I can’t comment on the rooms, but I’ve been coming here almost every day for the pools and service. The pools are clean and comfortably warm, and the fountains at the upper pool are great. Just avoid standing under them when they switch on: 11:30-12:00, 14:30-15:00, and 17:00-17:30. The staff remember my usual order so well that they’ll bring it over without me asking. The sunbeds look new, are really clean, and feel almost like memory foam. My holiday isn’t even over and I’ve already booked for next year. Then I’ll be able to say something about the rooms, too.

The rooms could use a refresh, though they’re clean and comfortable. The staff are friendly, and there’s a handy local shop with just about everything you might need. The location is spot on, too. A fantastic hotel.
