Savoy City Hotel

The location was good, and check-in went smoothly with a very polite and friendly woman at the desk. But the room absolutely reeked of cigarette smoke, despite signs everywhere saying no smoking. It was unbearable. I asked to move, but there were no other rooms available. The room was basic and dated. The bed squeaked whenever I turned, and only the main light worked, not the bedside lights. The shower and location were the only things that saved it. One night is manageable, but I’d be very uncomfortable staying longer.

The personnel were kind and the location convenient, but I wouldn’t recommend this hotel or go back. We booked a double and got a room more like a small single, so cramped we had to sit on the bed to move around. The furniture was old and the room clearly needed urgent renovation. It was too pricey for that condition.

The rooms looked like the pictures, and a cleaner came every day. Reception was staffed 24/7, and they were helpful. Breakfast was very good, and the hotel was quiet considering how many guests there were. The location is good, and for the price this was perfect for our stay. There are no curtains in the bathroom, which felt a bit unpleasant, and the view isn’t the best. If you don’t have high expectations, this is the best place for you. :)

The hotel is dated and basic, and the stair carpet could use a proper clean or replacement. Still, we thought it was good value for two nights at £82 including breakfast, especially given the location. Right in the town centre, it’s an easy walk to the harbour for boat trips or to the old town to wander its medieval streets.
