Pegasus Hotel

We spent 10 nights there toward the end of September. The pool is quite large, with more than enough sun loungers, and the pool snack bar is great value. The staff couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. It's quiet around the property during the day, though traffic from the main road can be heard at night if you leave the patio doors ajar.

The room and shared areas made this a real disappointment, especially after two years at the outstanding Pristine hotel in Sidari. We won't stay here again. Roda and Acharavi are lovely, with some fantastic restaurants and coffee shops. Shout out to Restaurant Drosia, La Merida and the Smurf Cafe for quality food and exceptional service. Outside, there are plenty of sun loungers and the grounds are nice. The bar in the middle of the pool only opened once during our week, though the weather wasn't great. The Snackbar had a small menu and was hardly open either. The inside bar was empty every time, with no atmosphere, and the lounge badly needs renovation. It felt like going back to the 80s. Breakfast was an experience: cold beans and scrambled eggs every day, boiled eggs that seemed to have been cooking for 30 minutes, a few pain au chocolate and mini croissants, and the occasional dry sponge cake. The orange juice tasted like cheap squash watered down far too much. There was also ham, cheese, salad, honey and Greek yoghurt. The hot drinks made very nice hot chocolate. Every morning, loud speakers played what they called serenity and wellness music, with bells, chimes and birds tweeting. After two mornings we'd had enough and went elsewhere for breakfast before we all went out of our minds. We weren't the only ones who hated being forced to listen to it. It was annoying and ridiculous. The check-in was straightforward. A friendly lady checked us in, asked us to pay the levy straight away, then handed over the room key. There were loads of steps to manage with our cases and nobody offered to help. Our room was tiny, with three beds lined up next to each other. The beds were awful, like sleeping on paving slabs. The wardrobe doors squeaked badly and hit the room door whenever they opened or shut. The fridge was tiny and didn't work, it just left puddles at the bottom. The room felt very dated and badly in need of a refurb. The bathroom itself was decent and modern, but the folding glass screen was oddly fitted on the side rather than the front, so water went everywhere, including over the toilet. At checkout, the receptionist didn't ask if we'd enjoyed our stay or whether everything was up to standard. In fact, we had no communication from any of the staff all week. My advice to the hotel is to modernise and refurbish the place, and give it some atmosphere. Overall, very disappointing, which was a shame.

The only thing we'd have changed was the single beds, since we would have preferred a double. Otherwise, this was exactly the kind of hotel we wanted: not too big or crowded, and we got to chat with other guests. It's only a short way from the beach and the strip. The staff at Roda Hotel were fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble, from the friendly and helpful front desk to the breakfast team greeting us each morning with smiles, enthusiasm, and useful recommendations. The snack bar was always stocked and cooked up some lovely meals. Our room was cleaned daily, with fresh towels and linen. Would I recommend it? Yes. Would I go back? Absolutely, without a doubt.

I've probably stayed in more than 100 hotels across Europe 🇪🇺, and this is the only one where the staff seemed genuinely happy and positive and really cared about our stay. They did everything they could to make us feel good. We'll definitely come back and recommend it. Everything was great, and I got a stunning idea for my dew bathroom 🤭🥰
