Tomi arranged to meet me at the port and pick me up, and took time to share recommendations. I was upgraded because, as she put it, “we try if we can,” which made my short stay even more memorable. Check-in was quick, and the wifi worked very well. The self contained rooms and studios are lovely, with large terraces and, if you’re lucky, a private pool. It’s a flat five minute walk to the chora for restaurants and shops. Getting to the port takes 10-15 minutes on foot, but the route is very steep. I’d definitely stay again.

The setting and view are stunning, and the room was comfortable, though it wasn’t fully clean. There were spider webs on the walls even with room service coming every day. Breakfast arrived each morning in a chest. It was very basic and felt silly because you couldn’t choose what you got. The items were almost the same daily: two eggs, two juices that weren’t fresh, two small croissants, two small cheese pie bites, a peach, milk, and sugary cereal. They kept bringing milk and cereal even after seeing that we didn’t drink them. There were no alternatives to dairy milk, and portion sizes varied. Wifi didn’t work for us. They blamed service on the island or our devices, though nearby restaurants didn’t have the same problem on those dates. Sharing the pool wasn’t an issue for us since we were alone, though someone else mentioned it about the Agrilou room in an earlier review. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

Schinoza Luxury Suites had brand new rooms, with some built in May 2022, plus a pool for guests whose rooms didn’t have one. The staff knew the island well, arranged transport to and from the port, and brought breakfast to our room each day. We enjoyed swimming daily and having restaurants and the port close by, along with front row sunset views. Schinoussa itself felt like a quiet little gem in an Aegean full of tourists. The excellent restaurants and secluded beaches made it a relaxing summer break from the busy feel of nearby Mykonos and Santorini. We’d love to come back someday.

The rooms and design are great, which made the downsides stand out even more. A year later, the wifi still wasn’t worth using, and as a guest I felt like a nuisance. I’m easy going and even try to fix broken things, but I don’t feel that way anywhere else. We enjoyed staying here last year, so this time we brought family and friends, ten of us in all. Gale force winds meant there were no ferries and we arrived late, so we had to pay double hotel fees. They refused to credit some rooms, or even offer a discount despite saving all the variable costs. Their answer was that we should have insured against this sort of thing. There are plenty more complaints, but the list is long and boring. We won’t stay again.

Our Junior suite with private pool, room AGPILOY, was clean and comfortable, and the view and location were stunning. But it adjoins the room next door, and you can actually see the connecting doors. It felt like sharing our pool and holiday with those guests. The other junior suites aren’t like this, so I don’t think this particular one should cost the same as the others. Breakfast came in a chest each morning, with no choice of alternatives to dairy milk and varying portion sizes. Wifi was unreliable too. We were told it was because of the island service, although nearby restaurants had no such trouble on the same dates.
