Villa Magdalena

From the outside, Magdalena Villa looks peaceful, but my work exchange stay there was very negative. I felt unwelcome and uncomfortable, particularly as a non-European guest. I noticed volunteers seemed to be treated differently depending on where they came from, which left me feeling extremely out of place. I wasn't treated with basic respect, courtesy or fairness in the way I was spoken to and managed. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone expecting an equal and respectful exchange. If you're thinking of volunteering here, be aware that the experience may not match the friendly tone of the listing.

The facilities are great, and the pool was a welcome spot on hot days. The water park is also very close by. Jan welcomed us warmly, gave us amazing recommendations and checked that we were alright whenever he saw us. You won't regret staying here.

A lovely place close to nature, with lots of greenery, a clean fresh pool and a family friendly feel. The staff were excellent, helpful and friendly. Good value for money. Only one thing could use attention: mosquitoes come out and attack if you sit outside at night. Mosquito repellent cream could come in handy.

Magdalena runs a lovely hostel/guesthouse and knows a lot about the local area. She can arrange taxis to various places. You can hire bicycles on site, and scooters are available nearby. There's diving in a village about 20 minutes away. Dinner was delicious every evening and very reasonably priced. There’s plenty to do if you stay in for the day: a pool, bar, books, games and even a family of kittens. A fantastic place to relax and unwind, as well as a good base for exploring Corfu. Highly recommend, and I hope to come back.
