House Haratsi

Haratsi House and Kriaritsi turned out to be a great place and a lovely experience. I’d worried the beach might be far or disappointing, or the room outdated, since the price seemed suspiciously normal, but none of that was true. Our ground floor room had everything we needed, even a sandwich maker. We loved sitting in the garden morning and evening. The grass was burnt from the heat, maybe because there were no trees or shade, but we still loved the yard. It was unbelievably quiet. Mostly you hear crickets, sometimes cow, sheep, or goat bells and dogs barking, and at times the sea when it’s rough. Kriaritsi beach is six minutes away on foot along a picturesque path, or one minute by car. We loved the beach, with hardly anyone there in mid September, turquoise clear water, and nice snorkelling spots nearby. Amaze had quiet, pleasant music, lovely staff, and Wi-Fi. Bar Hawaii on the other side was top too. Thea bar was already closed for the season, but has an amazing view. The owners of Haratsi House were so kind and always ready to help, including with a small problem we had with noisy neighbours. They even let us check out late since there was no booking after us. Thank you for everything! We’ll return and tell our friends. I’ve posted photos, but for some reason the last one shows first, so start with the last ones. P.S. The sad part was seeing so many homeless dogs in the area. We believe someone left a mother and her two puppies in an empty neighbouring yard. They were sweet but very hungry and thirsty, so we spent the rest of our stay feeding them and giving them water. It broke our hearts to leave, especially wondering how dogs can survive in this desert like area. We heard that locals bring dogs there thinking they’ll become sheep dogs, but they don’t, and it’s a serious issue. Even if you’re not especially fond of animals, please bring some dog or cat food and leave water in dishes around. Do some good.
