Lithos Villas Nikiti

We got back from Lithos Villas four days ago and waited a bit before writing this. We spent nine nights there. The first five were peaceful, with well-behaved Romanian families nearby. Things changed after they left: three young Greeks on one side smoked shisha by the pool, and the smoke came indoors, while they played loud techno and ignored the privacy rules. On the other side, a Greek woman yelled at her husband and two kids. We complained and things improved somewhat, but only partly. The owner was there, worked hard, and apologized several times. We'd hoped for a quiet, pristine luxury setting in Nikiti, away from street noise, with a private pool. At $500 a night for two, that's a considerable price, and we wanted a special vacation. I was already a little uneasy that it wasn't adults-only and that the listing said it sleeps five. The price works out to $100 a night per person for five, which is cheap, but for a married couple it's still $500. The pool can get terribly noisy with five people, even though the rules ban parties and outdoor music. The layout also doesn't seem able to sleep five comfortably: there's a double room, a single room, and an open kitchen/living area, plus two bathrooms. That seems suitable for three. The sunsets were wonderful, and relaxing by the pool in such a nice setting could have been worth every penny. The property could work as a clearly advertised quiet adults-only place, or as a party-friendly one, but trying to be both doesn't work. Compared with similar places nearby, it's nicer than most low-cost options, though it doesn't match luxury accommodation. You have to bring dishwasher detergent, like at a $100-a-night place. The toiletries felt like cheap motel supplies, and we didn't use them. Housekeeping is called “ECO-FRIENDLY,” which means cleaning and fresh towels are available on request, something that feels out of place at $500 a night. This was our experience, and I don't think the vacation was wasted since we spent most of the time outdoors. Some people may like it, but it wasn't the luxury and leisure we expected. Five stars because it will suit some guests, and because the owner worked very hard and the front desk woman was super nice and helpful.
