Porfi Beach Hotel

The garden-facing rooms are near the pool, beach, and dining room, which overlooks the pool. The location is handy for Nikiti, and there’s a fun private beach with free sunbeds and umbrellas. I also enjoyed the pool. The bed was uncomfortable, the room felt dated, and there was no soundproofing, so sounds and conversations from nearby rooms carried through. The shower water was salty, and the water in the coffee machine at breakfast was salty too, making morning coffee impossible to drink. There’s no kettle in the room, either. Breakfast was okay. The bar staff weren’t friendly, though the rest of the hotel staff were.

I wouldn’t recommend it. There wasn’t enough parking inside for all the cars, and the sunbeds were dirty. There are stones at the start of the sea, and the food didn’t seem very fresh.

The breakfast was good and included with the room. The rooms were cleaned daily with fresh towels, and the garden in the hotel’s center was very well looked after. We also found a really good Tavern two minutes away on foot. But there are a lot of problems here, especially with the rooms, which need deep renovation. They’re old, and some parts seemed unsafe, as shown in the pictures with the post. We paid extra for a Double Superior Room (GardenView) Balcony or Terrace, but on arrival the receptionist first gave us the cheapest room, without a balcony. After we pointed out the mistake, he moved us, but it still didn’t look like the room shown on the website and had a lot of unpleasant features. The bathroom door wouldn’t close, though they fixed it during our stay, and there was a large gap between the closed front door and its frame. There was no privacy, since the next-door neighbor could see from their balcony into our bedroom. Noise echoed loudly from the corridor. There’s no kettle in the room, so a cup of tea means going to the Pool bar and paying €3.5. There’s no nearby shop, just some biscuits and drinks by reception. You can get some food at the restaurants next to the pool, but their opening times are limited, as shown in the pictures.

The setting is beautiful, surrounded by greenery, and it’s a short walk to a quiet, scenic beach. The grounds are well kept and relaxing, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout. Parking inside the hotel grounds is limited, but we usually found easy, safe street parking just outside. We had a good stay, though some things could be improved. Our room was spacious but one of the older, dated ones. We’d requested a double bed but got two singles pushed together, and the old air conditioner was noisy. Now and then, there was a slight unpleasant smell from the bathroom. The food was fresh and tasty overall, though breakfast could have more variety. Dinner didn’t include water, so we had to order and pay separately, but prices were reasonable. The beach is beautiful and quiet, but there were often lots of noisy children, and the sunbeds were old and worn.
