Armenistis Camping

We planned to stay two nights, but ended up spending our whole vacation at the campsite. We did spend the days looking for beaches where our dog could roam freely, though, since dogs weren’t allowed off leash or in the water here. That was a big disappointment and the reason I gave four stars. The campsite itself was great, with a supermarket, restaurant and bar. What really impressed us was the bathrooms. They were cleaned constantly, and we couldn’t find a single dirty spot. Thumbs up for that.

A long beach tucked into a bay makes this a lovely camping spot, especially if you have a small boat or SUP. It works well for families and groups of friends with children of any age. There’s also a shop and restaurant on site, so you don’t have to leave the camping area.

I’d waited four years to book a mobile home with a kitchen and bathroom, so the stay was really disappointing. We were traveling with our one-year-old, and the first thing that hit us was a strong old smell. The floor had dust, dirt and dead bugs on it, and nobody had wiped the cupboards. The outdoor gas stove was broken and kept losing pressure. In June, 100 EUR a night just wasn’t worth it.

I’m very disappointed with Armenistis. My six-year-old twins and their friend took 700 euro from my pocket and spent it at the camping souvenir shop on toys, puppets and other things. I know I shouldn’t have left the money where they could get it, but the shop accepted it without asking how three little kids had so much cash or checking with their parents. After I found out, I brought back about 70% of the toys unopened, along with the receipt. They still refused to refund me, saying the money was already in the register. How can you take that amount from small children without asking questions, then refuse a refund when the items are still boxed and there’s a receipt? It’s not just about the money, it’s basic ethics. I won’t return to Armenistis, and I’ll tell my friends the same.
