Aeolian Village Beach Resort

The town was lovely, with friendly people and great local food. We especially enjoyed the beach and the amazing sunsets. The beachfront beds were much better than the pool loungers, so after day one we stayed by the sea for the rest of our trip. The hotel felt average compared with other places we’ve stayed. Our room was nice enough, but the bathroom looked dated and a bit grubby, and the rest of the hotel could use some freshening up. The pool area had little atmosphere and uncomfortable loungers that need replacing. Food was a real disappointment, especially the poor quality breakfast. The dining choices were very average, and the buffet area didn’t seem clean or hygienic, which put us off. Reception staff were fine, but dining staff weren’t helpful. In the evenings, we often waited 15 minutes or more before anyone asked if we wanted a drink, which made service feel slow and frustrating. We were also told by reception and Jet2 that the bikes were free, but when we tried to use them we were told there was a charge, and the rental prices weren’t cheap. We enjoyed the beach and sunsets, but the hotel didn’t meet our expectations and we wouldn’t return.

We went in August 2022, booking through Booking.com for a planned 4-day family holiday. Since my child became ill, we ended up staying just one night. Thankfully, they didn’t charge us for all 4 days. The staff were very kind, and as a Turk I felt like I was visiting a neighbor :) The hotel is a bit far from the center. If you arrive on Lesvos by ferry, you really need a car because the trip from the port takes a while. Still, it’s a peaceful place, and a good fit if you like swimming in cool water.

We stayed in a family bungalow up the hill, a few minutes’ walk from the restaurants and pools. That was no problem for us. We were independent travelers rather than part of an organized holiday, though many guests were there on a Mark Warner holiday. We booked half board and got lunch separately at the pool restaurant. It was just as fresh and delicious as breakfast and dinner. The grounds are beautiful, the food is fantastic, and the staff are friendly. WiFi was fast, and the room’s A/C worked so well we slept comfortably. I’m adding a photo of the view from our bungalow and one of the big pool, which looks even bigger in person.

The location on the west side of Lesvos is remote from Mitilini, but the drive is worth it. The beaches are beautiful and very clean, and the hills around them are good for hiking and biking. There’s plenty to do on the water too, including sailing, windsurfing, wingsurfing and snorkeling. The extensive grounds have a pool, water sports, bikes, volleyball, fitness facilities and a spa, plus childcare if you need it. Restaurants and bars serve Greek specialties. The dinner and breakfast buffet is awesome, unlike any I’ve found elsewhere. You can have cocktails at the pool bar in the sun or go to the beach bar beside the water activity center. Highly recommended for families and groups.
