Aumkara

Maria is a wonderful host, and Aumkara Apartments are excellent value. The rooms are spacious and clean, really close to the beach and nightlife, but far enough away that you can get a decent night’s sleep. There’s a lovely rooftop terrace, balconies and peaceful gardens. They also have WiFi and a book exchange.

The apartments were spotless, well laid out and just a stone’s throw from the sea. The owners George and valia were there to make the stay memorable, and everyone made an effort to welcome us and make us feel like part of the family. I’d happily recommend this place if you want that personal, home-from-home feeling.

Maria managed the apartment and took care of our transfers. Our taxi driver didn’t speak perfect English, but he pointed out the villages and tourist spots along the way so we knew what we were passing. Maria also offered us some of the herbs and vegetables they grow in pots outside. It wasn’t an upscale apartment, but we arrived to a bottle of Greek white wine, water and two cheese sandwiches in the fridge. One tip, switch on the air con before you leave for dinner, it really does the job. Thanks, we couldn’t have asked for more from the landlady.

I’ve booked again for September. The roof terrace is spectacular, the rooms are immaculate, and the service and location are just right. Thank you.
