It's a large apartment with three balconies and two bathrooms, and the price is reasonable. The road noise is a problem, though. The owners aren't on site, so you need to go to the big hotel next door. During our week there, nobody came to clean. We asked for a trash bag and were ignored. There's nowhere to go for a walk, and the beach isn't good, so a car is needed. It works for a short stay while exploring the island, but it's hardly ideal for an apartment vacation.

The apartment is affordable and works well if you're planning to cook for yourself. Rethymno is about a 15-minute drive away, and there are shops nearby. The rooms have small bathrooms with toilets, and one of the three balconies is always shaded. The complex has direct beach access, with lovely surf, and the reception is in the hotel next door, which is part of the same complex, or perhaps the apartments are part of the hotel. We could hear road noise quite clearly at night with the window open, even from the top-floor apartment with a direct sea view. Still, the price for what you get is absolutely fine.

Akti Apartments are two-story houses in a Mediterranean style, in a small seaside resort village about 11 km from Rethymno.

The rooms are clean and each has its own bathroom, all in a Greek style. The villa complex is linked to a neighboring hotel in Rethymnon, with a swimming pool and quick beach access. I recommend it.

The kitchenette is very basic, with an old hotplate. The pebble beach is narrow, and you can hear some car noise, though it wasn't too bothersome with the windows shut and the air conditioning on. The swimming pool is nice.
