Alfa Hotel

The staff were great, and room service was quick and tasty. Food is only available through room service, though. The location itself felt awful to me, dark and polluted. Inside, the decor had a dated 1980s feel, with mirrors and cling-wrap-covered sheets. There was plenty of noise at night from industry and what sounded like a lunatic, and even the double glazing didn’t keep it out. The facade lights also made it hard to sleep unless the curtains were fully closed. The bed was reasonably comfortable, and WiFi was good at 50 Mbps down and 5 Mbps up. Prices seemed about right for the area and the decor.

I won’t stay here again. The room was small and all red, the conditioner didn’t work, and the first five TV channels were X-rated. It seemed like a hotel mainly for sex, and I think that should be made clear before booking or checking in. It’s a long way from the city centre, and they expect you to leave your key at reception whenever you go out, whether for 10 minutes or an hour or more. During our three days, nobody changed the towels or took out the trash.

We only spent one night here on our way to see Athens. The hotel was nice and clean, and the staff were really kind.

Really good stay.
