MarGio Skiathos Apartments

The wife who looks after the apartments was lovely, and her kind demeanor is the only reason I’m not giving this place 1 star. The family should let her run the accommodation. It would make staying here so much better. We were told we’d have a sea view and a king size bed, but arrived to find a basement apartment with no view and a small double bed, the 135cm type. They said the advertising is generic and not all apartments have a sea view or king size bed. We were there for 2 weeks and decided to leave, telling them they could keep our deposit. Then the son called the police. The father came over, canceled the police, and offered us a better room with a sea view and king bed, but insisted we pay more. I didn’t want to, and shouldn’t have had to, but he made it clear we weren’t allowed to leave without paying full price. I’m Greek and know how that ends up. They’ll call a cop who’s family or close friends, and you just end up getting nailed. In the end, we were bullied into paying extra and got the better room. It was okay, but not amazing. The sea view in their pictures looks amazing, but in reality you only see it far in the distance from the living area. From the bedroom, you’re staring at the side of the neighbours’ house wall. This was the worst experience we’ve ever had in Greece.

The location suited us perfectly, in a quiet area just a 5 minute walk to the top of the main street and about 10 minutes from the beautiful beach. The apartment had lovely views over the town of Skiathos, and our ground-floor terrace was cool and shaded in the evening. It was spotlessly clean, well presented, and had everything we needed for a self catering holiday. Maria cleaned daily and left fresh towels, and even brought us cake when we left. We booked Margio Apartments in October 2024 for our June 2025 stay. The owner answered all our questions promptly by email. We arrived at 9pm after a 5-10 minute taxi ride from the airport, and Chris welcomed us with a drink. I’d definitely recommend Margio apartments to anyone visiting Skiathos.

Maria, Anastasia & Christos gave us a lovely family welcome and great service, which is what makes this place special. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay at Margio Apartments again. We had the ground-floor apartment with a spacious lounge, kitchen and bedroom, plus a lovely outdoor terrace. There’s free private parking right in front, which is rare in Skiathos Town. The property sits in a residential area just outside the main center, with easy walking access. As other visitors have mentioned, the bathroom is a little small compared with the rest of the apartment. The shower curtain does a great job of keeping water in the shower, so the bathroom doesn’t get drenched. But getting to the toilet may not suit larger visitors. That wouldn’t put us off returning.

A lovely family-run place on top of a small but steep hill, looking out over Skiathos town. It suited our young family of 3 perfectly. Clean, with enough space for 2 adults and 1 young child, and we really enjoyed our week there.
