Syraina Apartments

Our apartment was spacious, with a lovely little balcony, and had three single beds plus a double. We'd booked for three, but when our plans changed and there were four of us for a few days, Mrs. Syraina and Mr. Basilio kindly supplied linens for the fourth bed. It's about a five-minute walk to the center, and parking is available on nearby streets. If you're flying, I'd ask them for an umbrella so you don't have to buy one and leave it behind at the end of your holiday. Not for anyone afraid of spiders.

Mrs. Syraina is welcoming, and the rooms are clean and serviced every day. It's a quiet place, a little way outside the island's center.

Handy, strategic location, but the rooms are very basic, really just the minimum. The mattresses are very thin and hard and need another look. I also don't like that the air conditioning won't work unless the doors and windows are kept closed.

For what we paid, these were good value: low-cost, spacious, clean rooms with no luxuries, and very kind owners. It's a little farther back from the port, but the walk through the pedestrian streets is relatively pleasant.
