Sofitel Athens Airport

The rooftop restaurant was a great place for dinner, and the bedroom's blackout shade made for a nice night's sleep. I booked this 5-star hotel for easy travel, and it was wonderful. Being able to walk across the street to the airport was great, and the walkway straight into the airport made everything stress-free.

Breakfast was amazing, with lots of fresh, tasty food and drinks, and we really enjoyed it. The staff were friendly too. The hotel sits right outside the arrivals hall, which is very convenient. We also tried room service. The food was tasty, but expensive. The mattress had a few softer spots and I think it needs replacing, as it wasn't as comfortable there. The price is high, but at least the value for money is good.

The beds were comfortable, and for an early flight you can't beat the location. Still, the prices were extreme for services that felt extremely mediocre. We paid 275 euros for the night, and couldn't adjust the room temperature, so it was very hot. When we got up at 4:30am for our flight, there was no water in the bathroom for a shower or even to flush the toilet. Then there was the 'chicken souvlaki' for 32 euros: one skewer of pretty bland meat that seemed microwaved, some potato chips, a very average bagged salad from Lidl, and a tiny cup of tzatziki. Just sharing what you get for that crazy price.

The lighting was the real standout for me. The ceiling and wall design was exceptional, the best hotel lighting I've experienced, with brightness when you need it. The rooms are incredibly quiet, and the blackout shades make them completely dark. The staff were excellent, professional, attentive and genuinely welcoming. Food at both Jenny's restaurant and the Bar (lobby) was outstanding. A fantastic experience.
