This is a dramatic song-like scene about Odysseus rallying his soldiers for an attack on Troy. He reminds them of the decade of war and the families waiting at home, then assigns Diomedes, Agamemnon, Menelaus, Teucer, Little Ajax, Nestor, and Neo their roles. The soldiers join him in asking what they live and fight for, and he names Penelope and Telemachus before ordering the attack. Then Zeus appears with a vision of what's ahead: Odysseus must kill Hector's infant son, who may grow up seeking revenge. Odysseus questions whether a baby can be a threat and considers raising him, sending him away, or hiding his past. Zeus and the gods warn that none of those choices will prevent the danger, and that Odysseus will carry the blood on his hands. The scene ends with the gods saying he can only choose whose.

We found Asterida Villas during a sightseeing drive around Ithaki, after a noisy night in Vathi made us decide to change hotels. It was a welcome discovery, and we stayed there for the rest of our holiday. Mrs. Evy was helpful, and the rooms were spacious, modern, clean, quiet, and fully equipped, at a good price. Polis beach is right at your feet, and the pool terrace has a lovely view. If we return to Ithaki, I won't look anywhere else. A must.

The views are beautiful, and it's an easy walk to Stavrou's restaurants. But the host was cranky, the Wi-Fi was useless, and the kitchen was too poorly equipped to really count as self-contained. The manager didn't seem to care much about the property or its guests. I wouldn't stay again, especially since there are better options for this price.

The villa is spacious and well located for getting to Polis beach, but the website gave us the wrong impression of ASTERIDA. The pool bar hasn't operated for years, and when I raised that with the host and manager, she didn't seem to care and later removed it from the website. Our downstairs air conditioning blew warm air, and the remotes wouldn't change the settings. We asked the manager to fix it, but she argued with us and offered no solution except to wait. Wi-Fi barely worked, too. For the price, the experience wasn't worth it, and the manager was unhelpful and rude. I'd look for a different villa.

The owners took excellent care of us and were very courteous. The rooms were comfortable and spotless, in a beautiful setting. I hope to come back.
